Can I trust my Facebook ads ROAS?

Short answer

Trust it as Meta's estimate, not as your revenue. Ads Manager credits a sale to the last ad clicked, or viewed if there was no click, within your attribution setting (7-day click or 1-day view by default). It reports the sale on the day the ad was shown and fills gaps with modeled conversions.

Reported ROAS is Meta's account of which sales its ads earned, not a reading of your bank balance, and it can differ from your store for ordinary reasons: the attribution setting, the day a sale is reported on, and modeled conversions. This guide groups our answers by the question that usually comes next: why ROAS dropped, why Meta counts more sales than your store, which setting to use, whether the sales are incremental, what ROAS you need to break even, and why clicks are not turning into sales. For a defensible way to compare your numbers, see Meta ads benchmarks.
