How to Verify Your Business on Meta (2026 Steps)
How do I verify my business in Meta Business Manager?
With full control of the business portfolio, open Security Centre in Meta Business Suite settings and click Start verification. Enter the legal business name, address, phone and an HTTPS website, upload an official document if Meta finds no matching record, then confirm by email, phone, text, WhatsApp or domain. Meta says a decision can take 14 working days.
Verification is a short form with one hard requirement: your details must match your registered legal business exactly. Meta looks for a record matching the name, address, phone and website you enter, may ask for a document only when none matches, then has you prove the connection with a code or your domain. A website that fails to load or isn’t HTTPS is a listed rejection reason, so fix it first.
Where did Business Manager go?
Meta now calls the container a business portfolio, managed in Meta Business Suite. The old Business Manager tools page, facebook.com/business/tools/business-manager, now redirects to Meta’s Meta Business Suite page, and the help articles describe verification “in Meta Business Suite” (Verify your business in Meta Business Suite). The steps below use the current names.
Do you need to verify your business at all?
Not always. Meta says not all businesses need to, or can, complete verification. Open Security Centre and you will see either Start verification or Ineligible for verification (About business verification in Meta Business Suite). Meta lists these cases where verification matters:
- Daily spending limit. Meta may let some advertisers raise their daily spending limit faster by verifying.
- Developer access. Verification is required for Advanced Access to any permission on Meta for Developers.
- Meta Business Partner badge, News Page Index and some WhatsApp Business Platform features.
- Page transparency. Businesses with a large US audience, or running US ads about social issues, elections or politics, must verify and claim responsibility for their Page.
- Financial services advertisers, where separate verification rules may apply.
If you see Ineligible, Meta says you may still be asked to verify through another product, such as Commerce Manager or a developer dashboard, by email or notification. Follow that prompt instead.
What do you need before you start?
- Confirm you have full control of the business portfolio, formerly the business admin role (About business portfolio permissions). Meta says that if you can’t open Security Centre, you may not have it.
- Check that your business is registered with local authorities and has an official phone number or postal address.
- Make sure your website loads and starts with https://. A site that fails to load or isn’t HTTPS is a listed rejection reason.
- Write down the legal name and registered address exactly as they appear on your registration document.
- Choose how you will confirm the connection (table below), and get access to that inbox, phone or DNS before you begin.
How do I verify my business step by step?
Meta’s desktop steps (Verify your business in Meta Business Suite):
- Go to Meta Business Suite, then Settings, then Security Centre, and click Start verification.
- Enter the legal business name, address, phone number and website, matching your legal entity exactly.
- Confirm the business from the list Meta shows. If none match, select My business isn’t listed or None of these match.
- Upload an official document if Meta asks for one (accepted types are listed below).
- Choose a confirmation method: email, phone, text message, WhatsApp message or domain verification.
- Enter the code Meta sends, or complete domain verification, then click Done.
You will see a confirmation that the submission was received. If you pay for ads with monthly invoicing, Meta says you don’t need documents: you can fill in the form with your line of credit details instead, as long as the portfolio owns that line of credit.
Which confirmation method should you pick?
Pick the method that matches what you can actually receive. Meta’s guidance for each (When to use domain verification and How to increase your daily spending limit):
| Method | What you need | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| An address on the same domain as your business website | Your email domain matches your site exactly | |
| Phone call, text or WhatsApp message | Your business phone number, which receives the code | You have a business phone number |
| Domain verification | Admin access to your web host or DNS provider | No business phone, a mismatched email domain, or an .edu address |
Meta says .edu email addresses can’t receive a verification code, so schools and universities should use domain verification or a phone. Meta’s domain steps are in Verify your domain from your business portfolio, and the walkthrough is in how do I verify my domain in Meta Business Manager?
Which documents does Meta accept?
The document must show your legal business name and your official address or phone number, must not be expired, and must be issued by the relevant authority (Upload official documents to verify your business). Meta’s accepted types:
- Certificate or articles of incorporation
- Business registration or licence document
- Government-issued business tax document, such as a tax certificate (self-filed tax documents are not accepted)
- Business bank statement
- Utility bill, for the address and phone number only; it must show the legal name but is not accepted to prove the legal name
Documents must be in one of 21 supported languages, including English, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Arabic and Portuguese; otherwise attach an English translation stamped by a translation agency. Cover personal details Meta doesn’t need, such as a social security number.
How long does Meta business verification take?
Meta says a decision may take up to 14 working days, and you get a notification when the review is complete (Where do I find my business verification status?). In the daily-spending-limit flow, Meta says a decision can come in as little as 10 minutes. Check status in Security Centre; if you started from another product, such as Commerce Manager, the status shows there instead.
Why was my business verification rejected?
Meta lists four reasons (Why was my business verification submission rejected?):
- Submitting, or being suspected of submitting, false or misleading information
- Trying to claim or verify a business portfolio you don’t own or aren’t authorised to represent
- Trying to get around Meta’s verification review
- A website that fails to load, isn’t HTTPS, or contains a link that leads to an error
If you were rejected, you may be eligible to appeal from Security Centre or from the product where you started. Fix the website and the mismatched details before you appeal. One more trap: Meta says that if you edit your business details later, you need to complete verification again, so settle the legal name and address first.
Once you are verified, run the rest of the account through the Meta ads audit checklist. If you were sent here because ads stopped spending on a new account, start with why are my Facebook ads not spending their budget?, and if Meta has already disabled an account, what should I do first when Meta disables my ad account?
FAQ
Is business verification the same as Meta Verified?
No. Meta says verifying your business in Meta Business Suite is different from Meta Verified for businesses and does not give you a verified badge. Meta Verified is a paid subscription with a badge, support and impersonation protection; business verification confirms your portfolio belongs to a real, registered business.
Can I verify my business without uploading documents?
Often, yes. Meta asks for documents only when it can’t find a record matching the details you entered. Advertisers who pay through monthly invoicing can use their line of credit details instead of documents, provided the business portfolio owns that line of credit rather than sharing it.
Does verifying my business raise my daily spending limit?
It can. Meta says some advertisers can raise their daily spending limit faster by verifying their business. After verification, check Payment settings for the new limit. If it does not rise, Meta says you can contact support in Business Support Home to request an increase.
Do I need to verify again if my business details change?
Yes. Meta says that if you edit your business details, such as the business phone number, you need to complete the verification process again. Make changes deliberately, and avoid editing details just before a launch that depends on verified status.
